Washougal MX Park

Washougal, WA
The MX Factory take — An iconic National venue. The hilly, natural terrain is exactly the kind of place where good technique shines, which makes it a standout when we're in the Pacific Northwest.
Location
Washougal, WA
Terrain
Natural-terrain track on a clay base with a loamy topsoil mixture (native plus trucked-in dirt). Looks deep and brown but rides deceptively slick. Features include berms, off-camber turns, rhythm sections, doubles, triples, tabletops, step-ups, downhills, and uphills, built into significant natural elevation changes (Horsepower Hill, Ski Jump). Groomed and watered.
Best for
Intermediate to advanced/pro riders who can handle a slick, technical, high-elevation natural-terrain layout. Rewards precision, throttle control, and patience over aggression. Less suited to true beginners due to the slick surface and constant hills.

What riders say

Washougal MX Park is one of the most beloved and iconic venues in American motocross, a natural-terrain raceway established in 1971 that has hosted a round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship nearly every year since 1980. Riders and fans describe it as 'America's most scenic raceway,' carved through a forest of fir trees in the foothills of southwest Washington. The defining features are the dramatic natural elevation changes, the famous Horsepower Hill and Ski Jump, off-camber turns, berms, and flowing rhythm sections that wind through the trees.

The soil sits on a clay base with a loamy top layer, and on a good day it goes tacky for excellent traction and easy-flowing jumps. It is a rider's track that rewards precision, throttle control, and smart line choice, which is exactly why it is such a great place to sharpen technique. It is also one of the best tracks in the country to watch up close, with fences just feet from the action around most of the circuit.
