Baja Acres MX
What riders say
Baja Acres is a nationally known AMA motocross facility on roughly 80 acres in Millington, in Michigan's thumb region. Established in 1974 and run by the Grzebinski family for over two decades, it is regarded as southeastern Michigan's home for motocross racing. The main draw is a 1.5-mile national-caliber track built on rolling, naturally elevated terrain, with a separate junior track for mini riders. Riders and local press consistently describe the soil as a natural mix of clay, loam, and sand, with the sand giving the surface a characteristic roughness that tests both rider and machine.
The track is a true test of technique and bike control, with big jumps mixed into the natural elevation changes. The sand and natural elevation reward riders who stay on the pegs and ride aggressively. The facility caters to a wide spread of skill levels, hosting competitors from four years old to senior classes, and runs open practice on a roughly every-other-Sunday schedule.
The overall vibe is that of a serious, competitive, racing-focused venue with deep amateur roots. It hosts major races including Loretta Lynn's Mid-East youth regional qualifiers (drawing around 700 riders) and is best known for the Baja Brawl, a large multi-day race held over Labor Day weekend that capitalizes on favorable fall weather. The atmosphere is family-friendly and oriented toward skill development and competition.
